Why Counseling?

People come to Silverman & Associates for a wide variety of reasons for help with the routine elements of everyday life, to more difficult changes and events, which we must all face.

Mental Health is the ability to take charge of one's life, to create loving relationships in intimacy and family life, meaningful work, and a lifestyle of vibrancy, vitality and reflection. We believe that psychotherapy offers a way for individuals, couples, and families to deal with some of the profound changes constantly occurring in the culture such as: a divorce rate of over 50%, women's need for autonomy and equality, families where both adults work, as well as developmental life changes such as getting married, having children, etc. To seek therapy is a key step in achieving mental health.

Our Services at Silverman & Associates have helped:

  • individuals to overcome depression and difficult life changes

  • individuals to handle anger in healthy ways

  • adults to adapt to the demands of parenthood (including single parenthood)

  • individuals to deal well with conflicts at work

  • children to overcome barriers to healthy growth

  • adolescents to make the transition from childhood to adulthood in a responsible manner

  • couples, families, and extended families to improve communication and become closer

  • individuals to overcome eating disorders

  • adults to allow intimacy to grow creatively in their lives
